Whew it was really cool having Ruth Fields from Postcards Magazine come out to interview me and for Julie Knight to come take photos. I'm looking forward to seeing the article when it comes out in June. They arrived about 9am–Julie came from Huntsville and Ruth from the Conroe area so they got up early to get here because I live out in the boonies! Our place is off the highway, down the road and then the other road and then our drive–and that's a red dirt road that keeps all the vehicles covered in a fine coating of red dust. But they made it–I think both of them had to turn around and come back to the driveway.
I was excited to see them–and tired (smiling here) we'd had a really busy week. The Leon County Fair had been going on and we are always involved with that, this year with Tanner our High School Jr showing his commercial heifers. Then he had District track meet (he won in Pole Vaulting) but after that Chuck and I were racing around with 1 day to get flowers planted and I had to finish getting my office clean and in order. After the 8 months of non stop writing I had just finished up there was a lot to do! Like most authors when I write there is a lot of paperwork and crumpled notes and stacks of stuff that all needs to be put back and cleaned up before the next book gets started. I had not had time to do any of that with the writing schedule that I had maintained during that 8 months. Thankfully by the time Ruth and Julie arrived everything was in order and I had a great sense of relief as we sat down in my office. Not only was I in for a fun time with these two fantastic ladies but I now had my Spring cleaning done and would be ready to begin my new writing marathon in a clean neat environment! And boy do I have more writing ahead of me I needed time to clear my head and get ready.
I can't wait to see the pictures that Julie has taken and if you are interested in my story or my darling little office Chuck and my step-sons created for me then you'll be excited to go online and find the interview in June at Postcards Magazine's site
Julie had to leave before Chuck could snap a photo of us but here is one of me with Ruth out in front of my office. When I married Chuck 3 years ago and moved out here to the ranch there was no room in the small house for an office for me so we had a little building moved in with nothing but bare studs and plywood floors. Then we my very own little writing sanctuary. I loved Julie and Ruth's reaction when we opened the door and entered. It is really cute–if I may say so myself. They guys worked really hard on creating just what I wanted. Eventually we'll get our house built on the property but for now I'm content to write in my space 🙂
Thanks Postcards for a great time! Ruth and Julie you're the best!
